Working on the run for the chickens PART ONE. PICS

We started working on the run this morning about 9ish and here is what we have done so far:  Here is the start...we dug the post holes and started digging some trenches. Grandpa is over helping of course :)  With four of us working on it, it's going pretty fast.

Stefan is in charge of the post pounder LOL

Here is the left side...it goes behind the coop a few feet.  Not counting the space under the coop, each bird will still have over 16 sq foot of space (10 is what you should have).  And that is when we get 20 chickens...right now we only have 13 in there so they will have extra space. Plus we're going to free range them quite a bit if we can.

Here is the right side (below) each corner has a post so it's more secure.

Here is where our door will go...it's at an angle...thought that would look cool.  :)

Digging our trenches for buring the fencing.   Stefan is hard at work :)  He doens't like it much but he's working ;)  It hot...75 but it feels like hotter in the sun and NO breezes at all.  There was plenty of shade but not right there!  lol

Here is what we have so far...time for lunch.  Then we will get back out to work.  We have two more trenches to dig yet and then we start placing the fence :)  The chickens are all anxious to get out and explore!  I can't wait to let them out.  They will LOVE it.  YOu can kind of see the back post on the left side...thats how far back the fence will be behind the coop.  It will go all the way around enough to get a wheel barrow back there and around each side of the coop.

Do chickens dig?  They won't dig and try to get out will they?
